Happy Saffron Recipe – Mood, Memory & Libido Elixir

Two head-to-head studies show saffron can outperform Prozac for improving mood. Saffron is a triple threat – improving memory, mood, and sexual function. So, make this Saffron elixir daily and enjoy it’s healing and memory boosting properties.


  1. 3 cups of water
  2. A pinch of saffron threads (about 30 mg)
  3. 50 mg of zinc (usually in the form of zinc gluconate or zinc citrate supplement; always follow the instructions on the package for the correct dose)
  4. 500 mg of curcumin (you can find this in turmeric supplements; always follow the instructions on the package for the correct dose)
  5. 2 tablespoons of honey, or to taste (preferably raw and organic for added health benefits)
  6. 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
  7. 1 inch piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
  8. 1 cinnamon stick
  9. A pinch of freshly ground black pepper (to enhance the absorption of curcumin)
  10. 1 tablespoon of loose leaf green tea or 1 green tea bag (green tea is known for its memory-enhancing properties due to a compound called EGCG)


  1. Bring the water to a boil in a pot.
  2. Add the saffron threads, ginger, and cinnamon stick to the boiling water and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat and add the green tea. Let it steep for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture into a large mug or teapot.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add your zinc and curcumin supplements. Stir until dissolved.
    • Zinc citrate or gluconate can be dissolved into the drink but it has a strong flavor, so you can just take a zinc capsule or tablet and swallow that with the drink, if you prefer.
  6. Add honey and lemon juice to taste. Stir until honey is fully dissolved.
  7. Finally, add a pinch of freshly ground black pepper and stir.
  8. Your saffron, zinc, and curcumin elixir is ready to be enjoyed! Best served warm.

Just keep in mind the taste of saffron and curcumin can be strong for some people, so just increase honey or lemon as needed to your preferred taste and sweetness or if it’s too strong just dilute with more water.
