The Alexa Anona Protocol for cancer is a nutritional guide to the best cancer fighting diet, this holistic anti cancer diet covers: diet and the top cancer fighting foods, a cancer fighting lifestyle and the role of reducing stress and mental health in your cancer journey. It utilizes the cumulative research from dozens of doctors, studies, and texts including alternative medicine protocols and suppressed herbs, diets and remedies from cultures around the world. I’ll list various research and evidence from a range of doctors and holistic practitioners as well as clinics and treatments centers from around the world that utilize a wide range of treatments. I include as much information as possible so you can make an informed decision on what works best for you.

In a given day most people at some point have cells that go rogue and become cancerous…however the body has an immune system with cells especially designed to eliminate these and other problem cells, swiftly removing them before they become a problem. The body is more than capable of eliminating cancer cells, but in order for the immune system to function optimally, we look to address the conditions that may have contributed to the development of cancerous cells, and may also need to bolster various aspects of immune and cellular function to enable the body to meet the overload of cancerous cells that have developed.

Alexa Anona Cancer Fighting Diet

Cancer has many vectors through which it can obtain nutrients to grow. However one of it’s main fuel sources is sugar, which can be from food, but also from glucagon stores in fat (adipose) tissue. We attack the cancer’s ability to obtain nutrients and grow through multiple vectors, utilizing a dietary protocol, herbs and supplements. Please note that each form of cancer has herbs and supplements that work more effectively. Organic food is of paramount importance as pesticides and herbicides damage the gut microbiome (where 70% of the immune system is), damage cells and puts additional strain on the immune system…contributing to dysregulation and dysfunction throughout the body. When it comes to meat, grass-fed is preferred as the nutrient content is vastly superior to grain finished – nutrients are the immune systems fuel to fight cancer.

Avoid Sugar & Simple Carbs | Dr. Thomas Seyfried

This comes out of research from Dr. Thomas Seyfried who specializes in brain cancer…Sugar feeds cancer, therefore sugar is completely eliminated from any anti-cancer diet. This includes sugar of any kind (not just processed sugar) including sugar from fruit (which means most fruit). Remove any form of simple carbs as they easily breakdown during digestion, into the glucose which feeds cancer. Complex carbs also break down into glucose, but much slower. Ideally you want to remove carbs entirely, to starve cancer of it’s primary fuel source. Avoiding sugar is an integral part of the Alexa Anona Protocol, while we do make an exception, permitting a small amount of organic blueberries or blackberries because a) they are have a high antioxidant content b) are anti-angiogenic. Blueberries are also an optional ingredient in the included Budwig Protocol Recipe.

Sugar Fuels Cancer | Studies

There are several studies that show sugar is a fuel source for cancer – increasing the risk and incidence of cancer. One of it’s primary mechanisms sugar does this is through free radical, oxidative damage (sugar creates free radicals). Now yes, Glucose is the primary fuel source for all cells, and you can’t eliminate it entirely from the body. In fact even protein through a process called Gluconeogenesis, is through a complex process, broken down to form Glucose…The goal here is not to remove ALL glucose from the body (which is likely impossible), but rather to limit dietary intake of sugar and things that break down easily into glucose, to lower the glycemic load/index/blood sugar spike and ultimately restrict cancers access to glucose in the blood.

Here are a list of some studies showing on sugar and it’s affect on cancer (full citations at the bottom of this article):

  • A 2016 study titled Dietary sugar intake increases liver tumor incidence in female mice, showed mice on a high-sugar diet had a higher incidence of liver cancer than those on a standard diet.
  • Another 2016 study titled High dietary sugar intake and the risk of breast cancer and metastasis in mice found a link between a high sugar intake and an increased risk of breast cancer and metastasis in mice.
  • A 2019 meta-analysis titled Consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and cancer risk: A meta-analysis of prospective studies in the European Journal of Endocrinology, suggested consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages is associated with an increased risk of cancer.
  • Another 2019 study titled Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Consumption and Incidence of Breast Cancer: The Seguimiento Universidad de Navarra (SUN) Project found high sugar-sweetened beverage consumption was associated with a higher risk of breast cancer.
  • A 2020 study titled The Effect of Dietary Glycemic Load and Glycemic Index on the Risk of Breast Cancer among Iranian women found high dietary glycemic load, which is typically associated with high sugar intake, was associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.
  • Another 2016 study titled Glycolysis inhibition as a cancer treatment and its role in an anti-tumour immune response explored the role of glucose metabolism in cancer cells and the potential for targeting glycolysis (the process by which glucose is broken down for energy) as a cancer treatment.

Avoid Glutamine | Dr. Thomas Seyfried

Again this is based on some of the work by brain cancer specialist Dr. Thomas Seyfried. In the Alexa Anona protocol we simply want to avoid intake of any foods high in glutamine. Here is a list of foods high in glutamine, with highest glutamine content at the top, and lowest glutamine content at the bottom:

  1. Whey protein: Protein powders like whey and casein are very high in glutamine.
  2. Eggs: These are a good source of protein and provide a good amount of glutamine.
  3. Beef: This meat is rich in protein and naturally contains a high amount of glutamine.
  4. Skim milk: Skim milk has a good amount of protein, including glutamine.
  5. Tofu: Tofu is a plant-based protein source that contains a decent amount of glutamine.
  6. White Rice: While not as high in protein as animal sources, white rice does contain some glutamine.
  7. Corn: Corn contains a moderate amount of glutamine.
  8. Peanuts: Peanuts have some glutamine, along with other healthy nutrients like protein and healthy fats.

Berberine & Glutamine

Some research has shown that berberine in vitro can inhibit glutamine uptake, but this study was preformed on cells in a lab setting, and berberine may not have the effect in the human body. Berberine can be obtained as a supplement, or through foods like golden-seal, Oregon grape or barberry (all contain berberine). Studies are listed at the bottom of this article.

Anti-Angiogenic Foods and Cancer | Cancer Fighting Diet

This comes out of research from Dr. William Li, and his Book “Eat to Beat Disease” (Check books list below). Anti-angiogenic foods are those which inhibit angiogenesis – the formation of new blood vessels, which cancer cells need to develop, in order to obtain nutrients and oxygen to grow…Essentially starving cancer cells because they can’t get the nutrients needed to survive.

  1. Starving Cancer Cells: By inhibiting angiogenesis, these foods can starve cancer cells of the nutrients they need to grow and survive. Cancer cells need nutrients and oxygen to survive.
  2. Inhibiting Metastasis: The process of angiogenesis is vital for the metastasis (spread) of cancer. By inhibiting the formation of new blood vessels, these foods can potentially reduce the risk of cancer metastasizing (spreading) to other parts of the body.
  3. Promoting apoptosis (Cell Death): Without an adequate blood supply, cancer cells may undergo apoptosis, also known as programmed cell death.
  4. Inhibiting Tumor Growth: Tumors cannot grow beyond a certain size without a blood supply. By inhibiting angiogenesis, anti-angiogenic foods can potentially limit the size of tumors.
  5. Enhancing the Effectiveness of Cancer Treatments: Anti-angiogenic foods may enhance the effectiveness of certain cancer treatments. For example, some chemotherapy drugs work by damaging the blood vessels in tumors. By inhibiting the formation of new blood vessels, these foods can potentially enhance the effectiveness of such treatments.

Below is list of some of Anti-Angiogenic foods (see his book for a full list). Many of these foods also have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help the body to fight cancer in many different ways:

  • Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) – is a polyphenol found in matcha green tea (Look for organic and ceremonial grade.) but is also available as a concentrated supplement. I usually opt for the whole herb matcha powder as there are other beneficial compounds in the whole plant.
  • Genistein – this is a compound found especially in fermented soy products such as miso or fermented tofu (pref. organic).
  • Other Anti-Angiogenic Foods
    • Blackberries
    • Blueberries
    • Oranges
    • Bok Choy
    • Kale
    • GInseng
    • Nutmeg
    • Artichokes
    • Parsley
    • Lavender
    • Olive oil
    • Garlic
    • Grape see oil
    • Maitake mushroom
    • Licorice
    • Turmeric

Sulforaphane and Cancer

One of the most studied anti-cancer compounds is sulforaphane, found in high amounts in vegetables like broccoli, broccoli sprouts, Brussel sprouts and cabbage. It’s like a superhero for your body, helping in many ways to fight off cancer. Sulforaphane promotes the natural cycle of cell death and ultimately boosts your body’s ability to get rid of unhealthy cells before they grow out of control. Sulforaphane also helps reduce inflammation, a driving force behind disease. It may even help our cells to reduce the risk of abnormal and potentially problematic behaviors (e.g. cancer cell formation).

Here are some of the ways that sulforaphane helps the body to fight cancer:

  1. Inhibition of Phase I Enzymes: Sulforaphane can inhibit Phase I enzymes that convert procarcinogens (substances that become carcinogenic after being altered by metabolic processes) into active carcinogens.
  2. Activation of Phase II Enzymes: Phase II enzymes are a group of proteins that help to detoxify carcinogens — substances that can cause cancer. Sulforaphane induces the production of these enzymes, therefore enhancing the body’s ability to neutralize & eliminate potential carcinogens (cancer causing molecules).
  3. Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Chronic inflammation is a driving force behind disease and can contribute to the development and progression of cancer. Sulforaphane has been shown to reduce inflammation, possibly by inhibiting the NF-kB pathway, which plays a key role in the body’s inflammatory response.
  4. Promotion of Programmed Cell Death (Apoptosis): In many types of cancer, the normal process of cell death (apoptosis) is disrupted, allowing cancer cells to rapidly grow and divide uncontrollably. Sulforaphane has been shown to promote apoptosis in various types of cancer cells, essentially helping cancer cells to die.
  5. Inhibition of Cancer Cell Growth and Division: Sulforaphane may inhibit the growth and division of cancer cells by interfering with the cell cycle.
  6. Epigenetic Effects: Epigenetics is the study of how certain things can turn on and off genes…Some studies suggest that sulforaphane might influence gene expression, potentially reversing abnormal gene expression patterns observed in cancer cells.

The Budwig Protocol

Designed by German biochemist Dr. Johanna Bidwig in the 1950s, the “Budwig Protocol” utilizes a diet high in flaxseed oil and mixed with cottage cheese or quark, along with other healthy foods. For the purposes of integrating this into the Alexa Anona Protocol, we utilize the core of the diet which is the flaxseed oil + fresh ground flax seeds + cottage cheese. Below are the instructions and a video on how to prepare the mixture. This recipt can (and should) be consumed 1x Daily, and if you have trouble digesting you can take a broad spectrum digestive enzyme supplement with it (available at costco or most health food stores). More info on the Budwig Center Website.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic cottage cheese or quark (low-fat)
  • 2-5 tablespoons of flaxseed oil
  • 1-2 tablespoons of freshly ground flaxseeds
  • Optional: fruits like berries, for flavor and additional nutrients

How to Prepare:

  1. Blend the cottage cheese and flaxseed oil: In a blender, combine the cottage cheese + flaxseed oil. Blend until you have a creamy mixture with no visible oil remaining.
  2. Grind the flaxseeds: It is best to grind flaxseeds fresh for each serving, as pre-ground flaxseeds can lose their nutritional value over time (if all you have is the flax powder honestly that’s fine). Use a coffee grinder or a good blender to grind the seeds.
  3. Combine the ingredients: Mix the freshly ground flaxseeds (or organic flax powder) into the creamy mixture.
  4. Add fruits (optional): For added flavor, mix in some fresh fruits like organic blueberries or blackberries (keep these to a minimum).
  5. Serve immediately: The mixture should be consumed immediately to benefit from the fresh & active ingredients.

Only Organic | Cancer Fighting Diet

Recent studies have shown fruits and vegetables absorb the pesticides and herbicides like Glyphosate, which are sprayed on the crops we eat; the last thing you want in a cancer fighting diet Many of these chemicals are bio-accumulative, meaning they accumulate in the soil over time, and do not dissipate easily. They can also accumulate in your bodies soft tissues, being equally difficult to expel: damaging cells, increasing oxidative stress and inflammation and even damaging DNA. Needless to say this is something you want to avoid putting in your body, if at all possible. Oxidative stress, inflammation and DNA damage – all put strain on your immune system, drive cellular dysfunction and weaken your bodies ability to fight cancer.

This is why on the Alexa Anona Cancer Protocol, any and all fruits and vegetables must be organic – providing the nutrients your body needs to bolster your immune system without causing undue additional strain, due to herbicide or pesticide contamination. Remember, roughly 70-80% of your immune system is in your gut. These pesticides damage the gut microbiome and diverse flora (microbes) that play a key role in virtually every process in your body, in many different ways.

Pesticides and Herbicides

Here are some of the ways pesticides and herbicides impact your health and immune function:

  1. Toxicity: Pesticides and herbicides often contain toxic chemicals designed to kill pests or inhibit plant growth. When consumed, those chemicals can be harmful to humans, potentially causing acute or chronic toxicity which manifests in a variety of symptoms. Remember, because these chemicals are often bio-accumulative, they can poison your body over time, potentially leading to chronic diseases like cancer.
  2. Carcinogenicity: Some pesticides and herbicides have been classified as carcinogens, meaning they can cause cancer. Long-term exposure to certain chemicals in these substances has been associated with an increased risk of various cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma & certain solid tumors.
  3. Endocrine Disruption: The endocrine system regulates hormones through the body and plays a role in a vast array of your bodily systems. Herbicides and pesticides can damage the endocrine system and its ability to regulate hormones in the body – leading to hormonal imbalances, developmental disorders, reproductive issues, cognitive issues and a range of health problems. Hormones play a role in so much of what goes on in the body, including neurotransmitter and brain function. Damaging hormone production is detrimental to your health, and the ability of your immune system to fight diseases like cancer.
  4. Neurotoxicity: Pesticides and herbicides can have detrimental effects on the nervous system and brain health – once brain cells are damaged, they cannot regenerate. Exposure to pesticide & herbicide chemicals has been linked to neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, cognitive impairments, behavioral changes, and reduced IQ in children. Your brain produces about half the neurotransmitters in your body, which influences how your nervous system functions, how you feel and more.
  5. Respiratory Issues: Inhalation of pesticide and herbicide residues, particularly during application or in occupational settings, can cause respiratory irritation, asthma, and other respiratory disorders. And that’s only looking (in a vacuum) at the impact it has on the lungs, and ow how that affects cells and immune function once it’s absorbed from the lungs into the blood stream, where your body has to deal with it.
  6. Allergic Reactions: Some individuals may develop allergic reactions or sensitivities to certain pesticides or herbicides, leading to symptoms such as skin rashes, itching, respiratory distress, or gastrointestinal issues. These are symptoms the body manifests which signify underlying inflammation, which when chronic and long term, can lead to diseases like cancer. Sometimes these symptoms of underlying inflammation are so subtle, people become accustomed to them or deal with then using medications or things like coffee or sugar, which allows the inflammation to continue until it manifests in disease.

When your body is fighting cancer, the last thing you need are pesticides and herbicides damaging your health and weakening the immune system you need to fight cancer. Therefore this protocol mandates all fruits and vegetables be organic. If you cant afford organic at the grocery store, you can grow some in your own garden or frequent local farmers markets. Ask the farmers if they spray their crops with chemicals. Most do not, and they will gladly answer your questions and even give you deals.

Grassfed Meat and Dairy

In terms of nutrient content. grass-fed meat is vastly superior to grain-fed. It seems like common sense…if an animal consumes a healthier nutrient rich diet, the composition of its organs and tissues is going to have a higher concentration of nutrients in them – nutrients your body needs to fight cancer effectively.

  • Grass-fed beef contains higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, known for their heart-health benefits, and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a type of fat associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular (heart) disease and cancer.
  • Grass-fed beef is higher in precursors for Vitamin A and E and antioxidants such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase, which are responsible for cell health and anti-aging processes.
  • Grass-fed beef has less overall fat and fewer calories compared to grain-fed beef.

More nutrients, and less calories, what’s not to love! More omega-3s (and a more balanced omega 3:6 ratio) lowers inflammation and risk of diseases like cancer. And remember, sugar feeds cancer. Meat, unlike carbs, goes through a much more complex process where the protein is broken down into amino acids. Carbs easily break down into glucose, providing a ready supply of fuel for cancer cell growth. We’ll get more into this later, but if you choose to adopt a carnivore diet to cut off cancers source of easily accessible glucose (sugar), it can be a very effective method.

MCT Oil

When Medium-chain-triglycerides (MCTs) are consumed they go to the liver where they are quickly and efficiently converted into ketones, a direct source of energy for cells. This has a two pronged affect A) it helps improve insulin sensitivity and B) reduces fat because MCTs are not stored as fat, they are directly absorbed into the liver. When you are on the Alexa Anona Protocol and and a diet that removes most carbs and sugars (such as a carnivore, vegetable or modified Mediterranean diet), MCT oil provides a readily available source of fuel for your cells to function optimally.

Remember unlike long-chain fatty acids, MCTs are not stored as fat in the body. Instead, they are absorbed directly into the liver where they are rapidly metabolized into ketones. This process aids in satiety, potentially reducing overall caloric intake, and can help maintain energy levels when the intake of carbohydrates and sugars is limited. Furthermore, the ketones produced by MCT metabolism can cross the blood-brain barrier, providing an alternative energy source for the brain, which can enhance mental clarity and focus during a low-carb diet. Therefore, MCT oil can be a useful supplement for those following restrictive, low-carb diets such as the carnivore diet.

COX-2 Inhibitors

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is an enzyme that promotes inflammation & pain by producing prostaglandins, hormone-like substances that mediate inflammation and pain. Basically when you get injured or have an infection, you body produces more COX-2 leading to inflammation and pain. Therefore COX-2 inhibitors are often used as anti-inflammatory agents – blocking the COX-2 enzyme and thus reducing production of prostaglandins.

Some studies show that COX-2 is over expressed in various types of cancer, including: colon, breast, lung, and prostate cancers (to name a few). This over-expression has been shown to be involved in factors vital for cancer progression, including: cell proliferation, apoptosis inhibition (prevention of cell death), angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), and metastasis (cancer spread). In other words, if you inhibit COX-2 you attack multiple vectors (mechanisms) through which cancer grows. All the studies are available at the bottom of this article.

Natural COX-2 Inhibitors

There are various food options in the Alexa Anona Protocol – a cancer fighting diet, which are natural COX-2 Inhibitors:

  • Turmeric (Curcumin): Turmeric contains curcumin, well studied for it’s anti-inflammatory properties, possibly through COX-2 inhibition.
  • Green Tea (EGCG): Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a compound in green tea, has been shown to inhibit COX-2.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: found in things like fish and flaxseeds, have anti-inflammatory properties & may inhibit COX-2.
  • Resveratrol: This compound, found in grapes & red wine, is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties & may inhibit COX-2.
  • Ginger: Ginger contains compounds called gingerols, which may inhibit COX-2.
  • Rosemary: Carnosol & carnosic acid compounds found in rosemary, have been shown in studies to inhibit COX-2.
  • Garlic: Some studies show garlic can inhibit the activity of the COX-2 enzyme.
  • White Willow Bark: This natural source of salicin, which metabolizes into salicylic acid in the body, acts as a natural COX inhibitor, reducing the formation of prostaglandins.

Many of the COX-2 inhibitors are also classed as anti-oxidants, and included in that section on this article.

Turkey Tail

Turkey Tail (aka Trametes versicolor) has been used in Traditional Medicine for it’s potent immune boosting properties. Two compounds it contains Polysaccharide-K (PSK) and Polysaccharide-P (PSP) are well studied for their potential anti-cancer properties; making turkey tail one of the top cancer fighting foods in this cancer fighting diet. PSK and PSP fall under the category of polysaccharides – long chains of carbohydrate molecules. Research shows they may have immunomodulatory properties. In other words they can boost the bodies immune system but more specifically they can stimulate the activity of specific immune cells that fight cancer, like natural killer cells and T cells.

Several studies have examined the potential benefits of Turkey Tails PSK & PSP compounds against cancer, often as an adjunct to (in combination with) traditional cancer therapies like chemo. For instance, some research suggests that PSK may improve survival rates and decrease recurrence for certain types of cancer, such as gastric & colorectal cancer when as an adjunct to standard treatments. Studies have also shown it can improve quality of life and boost immune function in individuals with certain types of cancer. All the studies are referenced at the bottom of this article in the “References” section. Therefore Turkey Tail Mushrooms (extract or food) are part of the Alexa Anona Protocol for cancer.

While some experts argue the tested extracts are concentrated, and that you may not get the same effect from consuming turkey tail mushrooms, the fact is the compounds are present in the full mushroom, and although not as concentrated, they are likely to still possess some immune boosting and anti-cancer properties. There are two brands I recommend: Host Defense by Mushroom expert Paul Stamets and Real Mushroom (both are available in my affiliate shop)

Soaking & Sprouting

The Alexa Anona Protocol advocates (in addition to organic only food) sprouting things like nuts, and seeds. Soaking and sprouting helps reduce anti-nutrients like lectins, makes them easier to digest and can even increase the nutrient content. When trying to create an anti-cancer diet, organic sprouted nuts are a fantastic snack, rich in healthy fats, protein, vitamins and minerals. Nuts must be raw, unsalted and unpasteurized (not roasted or baked) nuts because heat-treated nuts won’t sprout. You can also just buy organic sprouted nuts, but they are fairly pricey.

Soaking

  1. Select your nuts: Pick whatever type you want (almonds, walnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, seeds etc) but make sure they are raw and not roasted (heat-treated) or they won’t sprout.
  2. Rinse em: Rinse nuts in a strainer under cool, running water to remove dirt or dust. Sometimes I just use a bowl, fill it with water, put a plate on top to strain it out then re-fill with water.
  3. Soak em: Put into a bowl and pour in filtered water (2:1 ratio of water to nuts) and let soak for 8-12 hrs. Soaking time depends on nuts). They’ll expand slightly and feel softer to the touch when done.
  4. Drain & rinse em: After the nuts have soaked, drain the water and rinse the nuts again.

Sprouting

  1. Sprouting (optional): Throw the nuts on a bake tray and spread em out. Throw a cloth or towel on top to keep out dust and leave at room temp. Rinse the nuts 1-2x daily and wait for little green sprouts to pop out of the nuts (1-3 days) keeping in mind not all nuts will sprout, so you can remove them anyway after 3 days.
  2. Dry em: Once sprouted they can spoil quickly, so you an throw them in the oven to bake on the lowest setting until dry, or use a dehydrator (this can take several hrs baking, up to 12-24hrs for dehydrators)
  3. Store em: once dry throw em in an airtight jar or plastic container and refrigerate. Should last 2-3 weeks before spoiling (throw a piece of tape with date on if you want to be sure).

Diet Options

As stated earlier, the main goal with cancer fighting diet portion of Alexa Anona protocol, is to remove sugar in all it’s forms (simple carbs, honey, most fruit, etc) and starve cancer of it’s primary fuel source. The most effective diets to remove sugar, cancers primary fuel, source are: vegan (veggie only) diet, Ketogenic diet, modified Mediterranean diet, modified carnivore diet and of course our very own Alexa Anona Diet. My least favorite anti-cancer diet, is probably the carnivore diet…because while it eliminates sugar, meat is also high in glutamine (which we touched on elsewhere in this article), another primary fuel source for cancerous cells. One thing to note here, is that depending on your type of cancer, as a nutritional expert, I may recommend one diet over the other e.g. for colon cancer, I might suggest the vegetable diet.

Notice: It it recommended to work with a nutrition professional. Please book a virtual appointment, to work with a holistic nutritionist, nutritional counselor or health coach, who can help tailor an effective anti-cancer diet for you!

Fasting

Fasting involves voluntarily refraining from eating food (and many liquids) for a specific period of time and has been practiced for centuries for religious, health, and lifestyle reasons. There are various types of fasting, including intermittent fasting and multi-day fasting. Fasting can be a powerful tool for restricting cancers access to nutrients and boosting your bodies ability to fight it. Generally I recommend booking scans or blood-work before breaking the fast, to check cancer status before. That way tou can see if it has had a positive impact, and make adjustments based on your results.

Certain people like children, teens, those with nutritional deficiencies, pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with eating disorders, or those with a specific medical condition like diabetes or cancer. Should avoid fasting unless they do so under the advisement of a professional. There can be side effects like headaches, dizziness, light headed, fatigue, muscle weakness or loss, and feeling cold. It may also trigger eating disorders in some individuals.

Basics of Fasting

For more information check out my article on 16-8 intermittent fasting or the OMAD diet…Here are a few basic tips on fasting:

  • What to do during fasting periods: Consume non-caloric beverages like water, unsweetened coffee, and tea. Do not consume food or beverages with calories.
  • What to do during eating periods: Return to a regular, balanced diet. Avoid overcompensation by overeating.
  • Exercise and Fasting: Light exercise such as walking can be done during fasting, but high-intensity workouts are usually not recommended, especially during a multi-day fast.

WARNING! Seek a Professional!

Fasting should only be done under the advisement of a professional, because it comes with an increased risk of nutritional deficiencies that can endanger your health. I highly recommend you book a virtual appointment, to work with a nutritional professional and ensure your fasting is done in a safe and responsible manner; avoiding dangerous nutritional deficiencies.

Below are some of the studies that show the benefits of Fasting for Cancer:

  • A 2018 Study titled Fasting and cancer: molecular mechanisms and clinical application observed how fasting diets could potentially slow cancer progression and enhance the effectiveness of cancer therapies.
  • A 2017 study titled Fasting-mimicking diet and markers/risk factors for aging, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease showed fasting-mimicking diet reduced risk factors/biomarkers for aging, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.

Ketogenic Diet

The ketogenic diet (aka keto diet), is a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet that has been associated with weight loss and other health benefits. The diet operates on the principle of ketosis, a state where your body begins burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrates (it’s preferred fuel source).

Generally the diet consists of (may vary depending on persons nutritional requirements):

  • 70-75% fats
  • 20% proteins
  • 5-10% carbohydrates
  • Start by removing high-carb foods from your home.
  • Plan your meals around healthy fats and proteins.
  • Monitor your carb intake (remember, the aim is to stay between 20-50 grams of net carbs per day).
  • Keep yourself hydrated and replenish electrolytes. A shift into ketosis can lead to the “keto flu”, with symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. This can often be mitigated by ensuring you’re drinking enough water and getting enough electrolytes, such as sodium and potassium.

Keto diet | Foods to Eat

  • Fats and Oils: Avocado, butter, coconut oil, olive oil, MCT oil, high-fat salad dressing, and mayonnaise.
  • Protein: Fatty cuts of meat (beef, pork), poultry, fatty fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel), and eggs. Remember, the keto diet is not high-protein, so you should balance your meat intake with your fat intake.
  • Dairy: High-fat dairy like cream, butter, and hard cheeses. Avoid low-fat, reduced-fat, and zero-fat milk or yogurts as they often have added sugars.
  • Vegetables: Most green, leafy vegetables and those grown above ground like spinach, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, cucumber, zucchini, bell peppers, and others. Minimize starchy veggies like potatoes and corn.
  • Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, etc. These are high in healthy fats and low in net carbs.
  • Beverages: Water, bone broth, and coffee or tea without sugar. Occasional glasses of wine are also acceptable.

Keto Diet | Foods to Avoid

  • Grains and Starches: Bread, rice, pasta, cereals, corn, oats, etc.
  • Sugar: Candy, chocolate, cakes, cookies, ice cream, fruit juices, soda, etc.
  • Fruits: Most fruits, especially sweet and tropical ones, are high in sugar and carbs. Berries can be consumed in moderation.
  • Beans and Legumes: Lentils, black beans, chickpeas, etc.
  • Root Vegetables: Carrots, onions, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.
  • Alcohol: Many alcoholic beverages are high in carbs, especially sweet cocktails and beer.

Keto Diet and Cancer | Studies

Below are some of the studies exploring the potential anti-cancer affects of a keto diet:

  • Another 2020 study titled The effects of a ketogenic diet on metabolic parameters in patients with solid tumours: A systematic review, explored the effects of a ketogenic diet (low in carbohydrates and therefore sugar) on metabolic parameters in cancer patients.
  • A 2014 Study titled Influence of a ketogenic diet, fish-oil, and calorie restriction on plasma metabolites and lipids in C57BL/6J mice found a ketogenic diet might exert its anti-cancer effects by reducing certain plasma metabolites and lipids associated with cancer risk.

Modified Mediterranean Diet

The Mediterranean diet is a great option for a cancer fighting diet, with a few minor modifications. The Mediterranean diet emphasizes plant-based foods, healthy fats, lean proteins and moderate consumption of red wine. For the purposes of fighting cancer, we want to remove wine entirely, limit seafood consumption (due to heavy metal content), remove bread (gluten)/simple carbs and remove most dairy, aside from cottage cheese, and ghee or grass-fed butter. I’m not going to detail the entire Mediterranean diet in this article (ill write a separate article on it), but I will explain why we made those particular changes to it for the Alexa Anona Protocol.

  1. Removing wine – as great as wine is, alcohol can damage the gut microbiome (where 70% of your immune system is), and puts strain on the liver, kidneys and overall weakens the immune system. We can get allot of the health benefits of Red Wine by taking a Resveratrol supplement, which avoids the downsides of alcohol consumption.
  2. Remove Most Dairy – To be very clear raw milk and processed milk/dairy are entirely different. If you check out my other article(s) on Raw milk, I outline how pasteurization destroys much of milks nutrient content, turning it from a powerful elixir, into essentially a white juice, that they fortify (throw in) with additional nutrients to make it somewhat healthy again. If you have access to raw unpasteurized milk (that’s legal in your area), I encourage you to keep milk and dairy in the modified Mediterranean diet. Otherwise I suggest you remove all dairy except for cottage cheese, which is part of the budwig protocol (included in this protocol) and ghee or grass-fed butter which (in moderation), which provides healthy fatty acids vital to good health.
  3. Limit seafood – Our water is polluted and so are our fish, which become sponges for heavy metal pollution in the ocean. Heavy metals can be detrimental, wreaking havoc on your health, damaging cells and cellular function, damaging DNA, providing shelter for harmful microbes, damaging brain cells and nervous system function and more. Ultimately although fish like salmon do provide healthy, essential fatty acids, we can easily obtain those same healthy fats in a purified essential fatty acid supplement, or obtained from things like flax/flax oil. With Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) in an anti-cancer diet, the cons of heavy metal exposure by consuming fish, outweigh the benefits, therefore a purifier supplement is better. If you absolutely must eat fish, opt for less polluted waters like Antarctica or Alaska, small fatty fish that are lower in heavy metals (salmon, sardines, mackerel except king, anchovies, trout, etc). In general it is best to look for supplement or brands of fish products that show third party and heavy meta testing on the label (tend to be allot more expensive).
  4. Remove Grains/Simple Carbs/Gluten – Grains in the form of simple carbs and whether gluten or non gluten, are not ideal for a cancer fighting diet for various reasons… First simple carbs break down easily into glucose which fuels cancer, second Gluten damages and causes inflammation in the digestive tract which is vital to detoxing, digesting nutrients and for immune function. We do however include some brown rice and flax seed powder/oil (fiber & EFAs) in the Alexa Anona Protocol.

Modified Carnivore Diet

Carnivore diet is pretty straightforward – meat and water. For an anti-cancer diet we make a few exceptions (those specifically outlined in this protocol): herbs and supplements, herbal teas, we permit (obviously) other types of meat like chicken and we include forms of fiber such as flax seed powder. Also in the Alexa Anona protocol, we include windows of fasting (especially before testing). Again I won’t detail the carnivore diet (there isn’t much to say), but ill outline why we made these specific changes.

When it comes to supporting the bodies ability to fight cancer, two of the primary ways we do that are 1) Antioxidants – reducing oxidative damage and 2) Anti-Inflammatories – reducing inflammation which is a driving force behind disease (well get more into this later). To that end we include a regimen of herbs, herbal teas and supplements which support the body in a myriad of ways including supporting immune system function so it can be much more effective at eliminating cancer cells; essential in a cancer fighting diet.

  • Herbal Teas – We include a few herbal teas with potent anti-cancer and immune fortifying properties. One of those is Essiac tea (designed & used by Rene caisse with patients), Organic Matcha Green Tea (antioxidants + EGCG is an anti-angiogenic and COX-2 inhibitor -> helps fight cancer) as well as others which the Alexa Anona Protocol utilizes specifically for their anti-cancer properties.
  • Herbs – We also include herbs like sour-sop (as a tea), moringa (for it’s nutrient content), burdock root, spiritual, chlorella, etc which all help the body either through nutrient intake, anti-oxidants or anti-inflammatories or direct anti-cancer properties.
  • Supplements – Supplements are vital to the Alexa Anona Protocol, because A) many studies have shown our food is 10-50% less nutrient dense than it was 50 years ago, which leads to vitamin deficiencies and any number diseases and B) When fighting cancer, you sometimes need high concentrations that would be difficult or ineffective to obtain through food. Supplements include: Astaxanthin, Vitamin C and Vitamin D (to name a few).

The Alexa Anona Cancer Fighting Diet & Meal Plan

Diet is the foundation of the Alexa Anona protocol, and this 7 day meal plan for cancer patients, distills down all my cumulative research on anti-cancer nutrition. It focus on the most studied anti-cancer foods, intermittent fasting, utilizing the most effective herbs and supplements to reduce inflammation, oxidative damage and directly attack the multiple vectors through which cancer utilizes to thrive and grow.

91 Essential Nutrients

This comes out of the Research by Dr. Joel Wallach, who after surveying tens of thousands of dead animal and human bodies, found that most disease was related to deficiencies in one or more key nutrients vital to a healthy body. In his research on cancer, Dr. Wallach states that Cancer is not genetic at all, but is a self inflicted disease, from before you were born until your conception – resulting primarily from a combination of excessive free radicals and lack of protection in the form of bioflavonoids and antioxidants to counter that damage. Over several decades he narrowed it down to a list of 91 Essential Nutrients vital to maintaining optimal health. Dr. Wallach perfected the dosages of vitamins, minerals and fatty acids and formulated them into “The Mighty 90” formulations. The 91 essential nutrients are a vital part of the Alexa Anona Protocol, but how you get them is not…You can obtain the 91 nutrients through superfoods or Dr. Wallachs formulas.

How to Get the 91 Essential Nutrients

Based on my research on soil nutrient depletion, it would be extremely difficult to get adequate amounts of all 91 nutrients through food, because our food is 30-50% less nutrient dense than it was 50 years ago, due to agricultural farming stripping the soil of it’s nutrients (and not adequately restoring them). Therefore it’s nearly impossible to get adequate amounts of all 91 nutrients through food alone; supplementation is necessary. There’s a pretty good probability that several deficiencies (including insufficient antioxidants) contributed to the development of your cancer, therefore getting those nutrients into your body immediately, is of the utmost importance.

Superfoods | Cancer Fighting Diet

The Alexa Anona Diet recommends integrating one or more of the following super-foods into your daily diet to obtain the 91 essential nutrients through food (Links Available to my recommended products in my Affiliate Shop):

  1. Moringa
  2. Burdock Root
  3. Irish Sea Moss
  4. Spirulina
  5. Chlorella
  6. Bladderwack
  7. Shilajit

I’ll be completely transparent here, you can try to get the 91 essential nutrients through diet by including the above super foods. However it’s going to be very hard to ensure you get the required amount of each nutrient, because each nutrient has a different RDA (recommended daily allowance), and super foods don’t necessarily provide all those nutrients in the correct ratios, you might get too much of one and too little of another. But ultimately if you can’t afford Dr. Wallachs Formulations, I’d much rather you integrated super foods like Moringa or Irish Sea Moss into your diet, to at least try to get some of the 91 nutrients.

Dr. Wallachs Mighty 90 Formulations

Dr. Wallach, who pioneered nutritional deficiencies and how the contribute to over 300 diseases, including cancer developed his 91 essential nutrients into a single bundle you can easily order and take to supercharge your anti-cancer diet. I firmly believe if you give your body the raw materials that it needs (the 91 essential nutrients), it is capable of incredible healing and recovery. You can but the bundle recommended for an anti-cancer diet below:

Antioxidants | Cancer Fighting Diet

Pollutants (things we eat, environmental exposure, etc) can produce free radicals in a process known as oxidation. Free radicals are unstable molecules that have one or more paired electrons, making them unstable, so they seek out and capture electrons from other substances. This often causes a chain reaction of free radical production which can damage cells, protein and DNA in the body. Free radicals are like gasoline for cancer. Ultimately free radicals can damage cell genetic material or DNA, which can result in cells growing uncontrollably leading to the formation of tumors and cancer.

Remember I said free radicals have one or more paired electrons? Well antioxidants lend one of their protons to these free radicals to stabilize them so they don’t cause further damage to your body, stopping the cascade of free radicals and helping to protect cells genetic material. Antioxidants can reduce the risk of cancer and potentially slow down its development and progression. Some studies suggest that anti-oxidant supplements can increase cancer, e.g. vitamin E supplements, most of which only contain 1/8 forms of vitamin E. While those same studies show vitamin E rich foods reduce the risk of cancer.

This is where the type of antioxidant supplement matters (there are dozens), and working with a nutrition professional that knows antioxidants is important; vital to an effective cancer fighting diet. The Alexa Anona protocol is carefully designed to include the latest research on supplements and only includes supplements, and forms of antioxidants that improve health and your bodies capacity to fight cancer. One thing to note here is if you’re on chemo or related drugs that function through oxidative damage, antioxidants could inhibit their effectiveness. Therefore you should consult a naturopathic practitioner before supplementing with antioxidants, if that is the case.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)

Vitamin C Is a potent antioxidant well studied for it’s anti-cancer effects. You can start with oral vitamin C, but there are also IV clinics that offer high dose (intravenous) vitamin C therapy for cancer patients…you can search your local area for such clinics. Here are some of the studies on the anti-cancer affects of Vitamin C:

  • A 2015 study showed high-dose vitamin C intravenous reduced side effects associated with chemotherapy and radiation therapy. High-dose parenteral ascorbate enhanced chemo-sensitivity of ovarian cancer (makes cancer more vulnerable to the chemo therapy) and reduced toxicity of chemotherapy.
  • In a 2014 study vitamin C selectively killed KRAS and BRAF mutant colorectal cancer cells by targeting a metabolic vulnerability in these cells.
  • A 2010 study found vitamin C could inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells. The study used both in vitro and in vivo models, showing promising results for the use of vitamin C against pancreatic cancer.

IP-6 (Phytic Acid)

Inositol hexaphosphate (IP-6), also known as phytic acid, is a naturally occurring compound found in many plant foods, particularly in grains, seeds, and legumes. It has been studied for its potential anti-cancer properties, mainly due to its ability to modulate various cellular processes involved in cancer development and progression. In other words it can attack cancer development through multiple ways. Here are some ways in which IP-6 may exert its anti-cancer effects:

  1. Antioxidant Activity: IP-6 acts as an antioxidant, scavenging free radicals and reducing oxidative stress, which is implicated in cancer initiation and progression.
  2. Cellular Signaling: IP-6 can modulate intracellular signaling pathways involved in cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. By regulating these pathways, IP-6 may help inhibit abnormal cell growth and promote apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells.
  3. Immune Modulation: IP-6 has been shown to enhance the immune system’s response to cancer cells by stimulating natural killer (NK) cells, macrophages, and other immune cells involved in recognizing and destroying cancer cells.
  4. Anti-Angiogenic Effects: IP-6 may inhibit the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) that supply nutrients and oxygen to tumors, thereby depriving them of essential resources for growth and metastasis.
  5. Chelation of Minerals: IP-6 can bind to minerals such as iron and calcium, potentially reducing their availability to cancer cells, as some cancer types rely on these minerals for their growth and proliferation.

Studies are cited at the bottom of the article in he “references” section.

Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin Is one of the most potent antioxidants found in nature (6000x stronger than Vit C). It is often used by professional athletes to improve endurance and recovery time through its powerful ability to reduce oxidative damage.

  • A 2017 study showed astaxanthin could inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis in oral cancer cells.
  • In a 2012 study astaxanthin exhibited anti-proliferative effects on bladder cancer cells
  • Another 2017 study found astaxanthin suppressed colon cancer cell growth by regulating cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.

Glutathione

Glutathione is known as the master detoxifier. If you are on chemo or radiation you should be wary of supplementing with glutathione, as it has been shown to make some cancer cells more resistant to chemotherapy and radiation treatment, however it’s also been shown to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy with oxaliplatin; consult your oncologist or naturopathic Dr before using.

  • A 2004 study showed depletion of glutathione in normal cells can lead to oxidative DNA damage which can promote carcinogenesis.
  • A 2017 study showed that inhibiting the synthesis of glutathione in lung cancer cells made them more susceptible to treatment with chemotherapy and radiation. In other words glutathione made cancer cells more resistant to chemotherapy & radiation.
  • An old 1997 study showed Glutathione had a protective effect against the neurotoxicity associated with oxaliplatin, a chemotherapy drug.

Sublingual Vs Liposomal

Sublingual (under the tongue) or liposomal are the most well absorbed forms – sublingual because it is absorbed by glands under the tongue and goes directly to the blood stream – liposomal because it’s designed to survive the digestive process and in a molecular format more easily absorbed by cells. While this can benefit many nutrients/supplements…it’s especially useful for Glutathione.

Vitamin E

There are 8 forms of vitamin E, and studies show vitamin E supplements can increase the risk of cancer, while vitamin E rich foods decreases the risk of cancer! This likely has something to do with supplements isolating only 1 form of vitamin E (out of 8)…Therefore for the Alexa Anona diet, we recommend adding foods rich in vitamin E or a supplement in the form of a dried powder from a whole food source (not synthetic lab-made). In other words, some Vitamin E supplements are good as long as they are from a whole food (herbal) source.

Vitamin E Rich Foods

Here are some of the top vitamin E rich foods, recommended on this diet (remember to get organic):

  1. Almonds
  2. Hazelnuts (filberts)
  3. Pine nuts
  4. Spinach (cooked)
  5. Broccoli (cooked)
  6. Kiwifruit
  7. Mango
  8. Tomato (raw)
  9. Avocado
  10. Swiss chard (cooked)
  11. Butternut squash

Anti-Inflammatories

Most antioxidants are also clased as anti-inflammatores because their antioxidant effects can help reduce inflammation; making this list much shorter than the antioxidant list. Inflammation is part of the bodies response to injury or infection…but when it becomes chronic, it can contribute to cancer development and growth in a variety of ways:

  • Leads to DNA damage and cellular changes that lay the groundwork for cancer
  • Substances produced by the body in response to inflammation like free radicals, can promote the growth and spread of cancer
  • Suppresses the immune system, hindering the body’s ability to identify and destroy damaged cells that could become cancerous.

It’s important to point out that the relationship between inflammation and cancer is complex, influenced by a variety of factors and is not yet fully understood. However the principle here is simple…adopt a lifestyle and diet (with supplements) that: lowers inflammation and supports healthy immune function which can reduce the risk of cancer and help the body to combat cancer.

Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Just like putting water on a fire, preventing it from burning out of control and causing further damage… Consuming anti-inflammatory foods and herbs, can help to calm the bodies inflammatory response, which takes stress off the immune system and helps prevent damage to cells and DNA. Here are some recommended anti-inflammatory foods on the Alexa Anona Protocol and Diet Plan for Cancer (remember to get organic):

  1. Wild Caught Fatty fish (such as salmon, mackerel, sardines) – Avoid farmed fish, and try to get atlantic or antarctic instead of Pacific, due to pollution.
  2. Berries (such as blackberries and blueberries) – Remember to keep these to a minimum as the Alexa Anona Protocol for Cancer recommends removing added sugars and limiting sugars through food sources.
  3. Leafy greens (such as spinach, kale, collard greens) – Steaming is the best way to cook these as it helps reduce anti-nutrients and preserves most of the nutrition).
  4. Extra virgin (organic) olive oil – Try to get one in a glass bottle, from a well known and reputable brand.
  5. Turmeric + Black Pepper – You can get curcumin extract supplements, but I almsot always prefer a whole food source if possible. You can buy organic fresh or powdered turmeric at any store and add it to your meals. Always consume along with some black pepper, as it greatly increases absorption of the beneficial turmeric compounds.
  6. Ginger – try to get fresh and organic ginger, rather than those powdered forms.
  7. Walnuts – Organic is really important for nuts – Avoid california nuts as they are the pesticide and herbicide capitol of America! Raw or sprouted nuts are best because it reduces anti-nutrients and enhances bioavailability of nutrient content in the nuts – you can sprout nuts yourself (check youtube for guides).
  8. Flaxseeds – Again organic is best. You can get flaxseed powder, seeds to grind yourself or oil. Flax is also key to the Budgwig Muesli, which is included in the Alexa Anona Protocol for Cancer.
  9. Matcha Green tea (EGCG) – We covered EGCG which is extracted from green tea and it’s anti-cancer properties. Again you can get EGCG (extract) capsules, or you can consume matcha green tea, or both!
  10. Garlic (aka Natures Antibiotic) – It is best to consume fresh garlic, and crush it 10-15 minutes before consuming to maximize it’s nutritional content. Powdered garlic loses a significant amount of it’s beneficial compounds.
  11. Cacao (powder or nibs) – Cacao is anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and rich in antioxidants. You can get cacao powder to mix in with shakes or drinks (such as a mushroom drink), or munch on cacao nibs as a snack (find at health food stores).

Herbal Teas

The Alexa Anona protocol utilizes 3 main types of herbal tea based on their potential anti-cancer properties as well as Matcha Green Tea – if you opt for that instead of an EGCG supplement (the anti cancer compound matcha contains). Again my recommended brands can be found in my affiliate shop. Reverse osmosis or vapor distilled water should be your main beverage of choice, second these herbal teas which you can drink hot or cold…but they should be organic and sugar should not be added. For the Essiac tea, ensure you follow instructions for proper preparation and consumption.

#1 Essiac Tea

Developed by Rene Cassie from Canada, who administered the tea to thousands of patients, many of whom saw amazing results. She administered the tea for free and under the instruction of some of the highly esteemed doctors in Canada at the time. She was attacked by the FDA, but due to the esteemed doctors backing her, and the fact she administered the Essiac tea completely free, she was able to continue. A statue was erected to honor the many lives she improved and saved.

Dose: On the Alexa Anona Protocol, you can drink 2-3 cups per day using the normal amount for a standard cup of tea. This is your primary anti-cancer herbal tea.

Essiac Tea Side Effects

Generally Essiac is like any other herbal tea with a few possible side effects. Consume responsibly and if you would like further instructions book a virtual appointment.

  1. Digestive Issues: Some people can experience digestive side effects, including: nausea, indigestion, or diarrhea.
  2. Increased Bowel Movements: Essiac tea has a mild laxative effect, which may lead to increased frequency of bowel movements and frequent visits to the restroom.
  3. Lowers blood sugar: There are reports that Essiac tea can lowering blood sugar levels, which may cause issues for individuals with diabetes or those taking insulin or other medications to regulate blood sugar levels.
  4. Kidney and Liver Problems: Frequent or long-term use of Essiac tea may result in increased levels of liver enzymes and could potentially harm the kidneys.
  5. Allergies: Some people might have an allergic reaction to the herbs in the tea, which could cause symptoms like itching, rashes, or difficulty breathing.
  6. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Concerns: There is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking Essiac tea during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Where to Buy Essiac Tea

A lot of research went into settling on what I believe is the best essiac tea company and product available. Genuine essiac tea is made by a small USA family owned business, that uses all the original herbs used in Renea Cassies original Essiac Tea recipe. I don’t trust supplements on amazon because labs have done tests on them – most don’t have what the label says, and even contain other ingredients not listed; which may be toxic. I could not in good conscious recommend an Essiac tea, that I didn’t believe contained exactly what it needed to, in the right quantities, and of the necessary quality for it to be effective. When your life may depend on it…you want something you know is going to work. Genuine Essiac Tea is exactly that.

Essiac Tea Instructions

You can download and print off this essiac tea instruction PDF.

Soursop Leaf Tea

Soursop leaf tea, often used in alternative and Ayurvedic medicine, is derived from the leaves of the Graviola tree (Annona muricata). This tropical plant has been used traditionally to manage various health conditions. Some research suggests that Soursop leaves contain bioactive compounds, like annonaceous acetogenins, which have demonstrated anti-cancer properties in laboratory studies. These studies show potential in inhibiting the growth of certain cancer cells, including breast and lung cancer cells. However this is preliminary findings and more research is needed before (if ever) western medicine recognizes it for cancer treatment.

It’s important to note that some of the key chemicals in Graviola aka Soursop like Annonaceae are acetogenins. These are potent Respiratory Complex 1 inhibitors – Complex 1 is the first enzyme in the electron transport chain and it’s essential for numerous reasons. Various studies have shown that too much inhibition can damage your dopaminergic neurons and if you take at the same time as metformin it exacerbates the dopaminergic neurodegeneration, which in studies they were able to use this combination to develop parkinsons in mice.

Dose: On the Alexa Anona Protocol and cancer fighting diet, I recommend you take not more than 1 cup of soursop leaf per day. And you should not take if you are on metformin – consult a your pharmacist or other professional if you are on any medications.

Soursop Leaf Tea | Side Effects

  • Neurotoxicity: Some studies suggest that long-term consumption of soursop leaf tea may lead to neurological disorders due to a high concentration of annonacin, a compound that might be neurotoxic.
  • Lowered blood pressure and heart rate: Soursop leaf tea might have hypotensive and cardiodepressant properties, which may lead to reduced blood pressure & heart rate.
  • Interaction with medications: Soursop leaf tea may interfere with the functioning of certain medications.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding concerns: It is recommended to avoid the use of soursop leaf tea during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential risks.

Dandelion Tea

This must include at least the root and leaf. Be careful if trying to source local, most cities spray with toxic pesticides, even if they weren’t recently sprayed it’s in the soil and will uptake into the dandelion plant. If you can find local places that have never sprayed and dry them out yourself that would be ideal. The dandelion flower can also be eaten and is a great addition to the Alexa Anona Protocol/Diet. In fact you can consume the whole plant, but I usually leave out the stem (consuming root, leaf and flower).

Again they are listed in my Amazon Affiliate Store – I added pre-made dandelion root and leaf tea bags. But personally, for potency i’d recommend you buy a bag of the dandelion root powder + a bag of the dandelion leaf powder (also in affiliate store) and combined them into your own stainless strainer, to make tea. You could also sprinkle them in soup.

Dandelion Tea | Side Effects

  • Allergies: Some people might be allergic to dandelions. So start with a small amount and test for a sensitivity. Symptoms may include: itching, skin rashes, difficulty breathing & increased heart rate.
  • Upset Stomach: Dandelion tea may cause: heartburn, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, or increased stomach acid.
  • Diuretic Effects: Both dandelion root and leaf are known Diuretics, which means they promote expelling urine. This could potentially affect electrolyte balance or exacerbate dehydration. Additionally, If you have weak bladder control it may cause issues for you.
  • Lowers Blood Sugar: Dandelion may lower blood sugar levels. This could be an issue for people with diabetes or hypoglycemia, or those taking medications to control blood sugar levels.
  • Interaction with Medications: Dandelion can interact with certain medications, including: diuretics, anticoagulants, and medications for diabetes and high blood pressure.

Rick Simpson / Cannabis Oil

Cannabis oil is heavily studied for a wide range of health benefits including it’s anti-cancer and pain relieving properties. Studies suggest cannabinoids may slow down the growth of or kill certain types of cancer. Cannabis oil is a foundational component of the Alexa Anona Cancer Protocol. As a disclaimer you should not use cannabis oil if it’s illegal in your locale.

I mention a documentary “Running from the Cure” (link in recommended reading section). Which is the story of Risk Simpson, who used cannabis oil to cure his own skin cancer. After being declared cancer free, he gave away his “Risk Simpson Oil (RSO)” to members of his family and community who also saw remarkable recoveries from their cancer (even from terminal cancer). The results he saw were so astounding he was moved to share his story and oil with others. He then developed the documentary “Running from the cure” and became an advocate for the anti-cancer properties of cannabis oil.

Cannabis Oil Studies | Anti-Cancer Properties

  • A 2019 study published in Anticancer Research found cannabinoids could have promising roles in the treatment of cancer through their ability to modulate inflammatory processes and impact cellular pathways involved in tumorigenesis. Kovalchuk, O., & Kovalchuk, I. (2019).
  • A 2006 pilot study found THC (a component of RSO) may decrease tumor growth in patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme – most common and deadliest malignant brain tumor in adults. Guzman, M. et al. (2006).
  • A review in Nature Reviews Cancer discussed the potential of cannabinoids as anti-tumour agents, particularly in connection with signaling pathways that control cell proliferation and survival. Velasco, G., Sanchez, C., & Guzman, M. (2016).
  • A 2007 publication in Dialogues in Clinical Neuroscience suggested cannabinoids may have potential therapeutic value warranting further clinical trials involving cancer patients. Kogan, N. M., & Mechoulam, R. (2007).
  • A 2017 review titled “Cannabidiol: State of the art and new challenges for therapeutic applications” in Pharmacology & therapeutics highlighted the potential therapeutic applications of cannabidiol (CBD) oil. Pisanti, S., Malfitano, A. M., Ciaglia, E., Lamberti, A., Ranieri, R., Cuomo, G., … & Bifulco, M. (2017).

Rick Simpson advises starting with a very small amount – a dose the size of half a grain of rice, 2-3 times a day. After the first week, the dose is doubled every four days until you reach a daily dose of 1 gram. This build-up is intended to help users avoid getting too high, as the oil is extremely potent. Once at 1 gram per day, people should continue at this dosage for 12 weeks.

Cannabis Oil in Canada

If you are in Canada you can go to a Dr and get a medical license for cannabis usage, then you can purchase pharmaceutical grade cannabis directly from a pharmacy. However it’s important to get a pure and unadulterated form of the whole cannabis plant resin that includes the THC + CBD for maximal benefit. While there are benefits to CBD oil, it’s believed by Rick Simpson and Alternative medicine, that some of it’s health benefits and anti-cancer mechanisms involve interactions in the whole plant, that may not function in an isolated CBD extract. If however all you have access to is CBD Oil, it’s worth a try.

Cannabis Oil Side Effects

Like anything other supplement, cannabis oil can have side effects, depending on the individual, dosage, method of use and specific type of cannabis oil used – some thc and some cbd side affects which may include: dry mouth, dizziness or lightheadedness, drowsiness, increased heart rate, changes in appetite or weight, nausea and vomiting, mood changes, psychoactive effects (THC – altered perception, euphoria, or heightened sensory experiences).

If it is your first time using cannabis oil, follow Rick Simpsons recommendation to start with a very small, rice grain sized amount. When you use a concentrated cannabis resin or oil it can be potent, and for some the experience of being “high” could be scary. You should also avoid driving or operating heavy machinery while high to avoid injury.

EGCG (Matcha Green Tea)

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a compound found in green tea and is included in the Alexa Anona Protocol for 2 of it’s potent anti-cancer mechanisms:

  1. It is an anti-angiogenic herb, we touched elsewhere in this article on anti-angiogenic foods. Anti-angiogenic foods inhibit blood vessel development. Cancer needs to grow networks of blood vessels to expand. If you inhibit it’s ability to grow blood vessels, you inhibit it’s ability to get nutrients and consequently to grow, essentially starving the cancer. This effect is amplified when you remove glucose in the body through diet.
  2. It’s a COX-2 inhibitor, we also touched elsewhere in this article on COX-2 inhibitors – some studies show COX-2 is overexpressed in various types of cancer including: colon, breast, lung, and prostate (among others). By limiting overexpression you can limit mechanisms through which cancer grows including: cell proliferation, apoptosis inhibition (prevention of cell death), angiogenesis, and metastasis (cancer spread).

These two anti-cancer mechanisms make EGCG a potent anti-cancer compound in the Alexa Anona Protocol and cancer fighting diet. If you want to consume matcha tea, get organic ceremonial grade. Although I’d opt for a concentrated EGCG supplement as well for maximal benefit, as that is the compound in matcha that’s been studied for it’s anti-cancer properties.

Sleep

Sleep is the foundation of good health and is especially important for healing, immune function, and recovery. Sleep is also a foundational element of the Alexa Anona Protocol – You can take all the herbs, supplements, and do any number of cutting edge cancer treatments…but without adequate sleep you are sabotaging yourself. Your body does much of it’s healing and rebuilding while you rest. Recent research even suggests that sufficient sleep may contribute to better outcomes in cancer patients.

  • During sleep the body releases hormones that promote tissue growth and repair, supporting efficient healing (Besedovsky et al., 2012).
  • Sleep bolsters the immune system’s ability to fend off infections and diseases (Prather et al., 2015).
  • During sleep, the body produces and releases cytokines, key components in combating inflammation and infection (Imeri & Opp, 2009).
  • Lack of sleep has been linked to higher cancer mortality rates, while healthy sleep patterns are associated with improved recovery and reduced recurrence (Sanford et al., 2014).

I cannot stress enough, the importance of sleep in healing. That means sleeping until your body no longer wants to sleep, that’s 8-10 (or more) hrs of sleep every single d

y. No exceptions! In the Alexa Anona protocol we touch on sleep (and stress), as well as managing your lifestyle (making work and life changes) to reduce stress so you can enjoy nature, and life…and create the optimal conditions for your body to heal. I won’t tell you to quit your job, but if it’s causing you undue stress and you have the finances, it may be a thought until you are able to completely heal.

Trouble Sleeping

If you are having trouble sleeping, this can be detrimental to immune function and your recovery. Fortunately there are a few options the Alexa Anona Protocol provides.

  1. Risk Simpson Oil – taken before bed, can help you fall asleep faster and improve the quality of sleep. If there is pain preventing the sleep, this can help to alleviate some of that pain so you can fall asleep. Obviously, this must be legal in your locale and if applicable prescribed by a doctor.
  2. CBN – Similar to CBD, it is extracted from cannabis oil or more specifically it’s created when THC breaks down over time. CBN is especially studied for it’s sedative effects, which may help those struggling with sleep issues. In a 1975 study CBN did exhibit slight sedative effects, but they were significantly reduced when combined with THC. Therefore if taking for the purposes of sleep, it should be taken apart from the Risk Simpson Oil.
  3. Sleep Hygiene – in our age of technology and smartphones our sleep hygiene is often pretty bad. This is simple things like shutting off electronics a couple hrs before bed, not eating supper too late, ensuring your room is dark, free of electronics and if possible should be a separate space from where you work. Also wearing an eye cover and ear plugs if that’s necessary where you live, and if you must use electronics late then using blue light blocking glasses (light entering the retina signals the brain that it’s daylight and to not produce melatonin).
  4. Pain – If trouble sleeping is related to pain there are various herbs I can suggest, but without knowing the source, type of pain and it’s severity, It would be irresponsible of me to offer up recommendations. You can book a virtual appointment with a nutrition professional, who can analyze your specific health history, and offer natural ways to address your particular type of pain. If it is legal in your area, consult your doctor about Simpson/Cannabis Oil, as can also be quite effective for helping to manage many types of pain, as well as increase appetite, and help with sleep.
  5. Sunlight – Getting sunlight is essential for immune system function and regulation of hormones. More specifically going outside to get some sunlight immediately upon waking up can support your circadian rhythm and make it easier to fall asleep when bed time rolls around.

Pain

Depending on the stage and severity of your cancer, pain can certainly be a factor. This can affect quality of life, mental health, sleep and more.

Cannabis Oil for Pain

Rick Simpson / Cannabis oil (containing both THC and CBD), has been heavily studied for it’s pain reliving properties including: chronic pain, neuropathic pain and pain associated with cancer and cancer treatment

  1. Johnson JR et al. (2010) conducted a study on the efficacy of THC:CBD extract and THC extract in patients with intractable cancer-related pain. They found that the THC:CBD extract significantly relieved pain compared to placebo and was well-tolerated by patients.
  2. Portenoy RK et al. (2012) explored the effects of nabiximols (a THC:CBD oromucosal spray) in patients experiencing cancer-related pain not fully relieved by opioids. The results indicated a more significant pain reduction in the treatment group compared to the placebo group.
  3. Wilsey B et al. (2013) studied the effects of vaporized cannabis on neuropathic pain, demonstrating that low-dose vaporized cannabis significantly reduced neuropathic pain.

Mental Health

If were going to be honest with ourselves, cancer diagnosis can be a scary thing…We can put on a tough face and power through, pretending it doesn’t affect us, but surpressing emotions does the body no favors. The Alexa Anona Protocol is a Holistic Protocol, and therefore addressing the mental health aspect of a cancer diagnosis is equally as important. The mind is an incredibly powerful tool for healing! If you don’t think so, remember that the golden standard for traditional medicine is a double blind placebo controll study. This is because the mind is so powerful at alterting biochemistry, that it can ourpreform some drugs! Your mind can initiate a fight or fligth response, alter hormone production, change the gut microbiome and affect the gut brain axis including affecting digestion which can affect nutrient absorption, affect neurotransmitter production which can greatly impact how you feel.

Stress

Biologically stress, especially chronic, is detrimental to immune function and over-all health. Our bodies haven’t really adapted to modern living, and so many things can cause chronic stress. Stress puts us in “fight or flight” mode…raising cortisol levels, adrenaline and nor-adrenaline and pulls energy away from other processes in the body, as well it can increase oxidative and inflammatory stresses on the body. After all…we don’t need to digest food, fix cells, or recover from an illness, if were running from a lion…even if the “proverbial lion” is simply a malicious co-worker and really doesn’t pose any threat to us – our body doesn’t know the difference.

  1. Stress and Immune Function: A review by Dhabhar (2014) found stress can have enhancing & suppressing effects on immune function, depending on the timing, duration, and intensity of stress. Acute stress can enhance immune function, while chronic stress can suppress it.
  2. Stress and Sleep: A study by Akerstedt et al. (2002) found that high levels of stress are associated with disturbed sleep, increased fatigue, and lower general health.
  3. Stress and Cancer Recovery: A meta-analysis by Chida, Hamer, Wardle, and Steptoe (2008) showed that stress-related psychosocial factors may adversely affect cancer incidence and survival, although the relationship is complex and not yet fully understood.

What this means as sitting down with your thoughts and a notepad, to outline anything or anyone in your life that may be causing undue stress in your life. Once you identify those things causing you stress in any form, decide what your values are and what’s important to you (search value lists online). Be aware that our bodies are very good at adapting to stress, and so you may not even realize how much stress is impacting you physically and mentally. The Alexa Anona Protocol highly recommends doing whatever is necessary to bring peace and relaxation into your life…but only if you can afford it. If your workplace puts you in a “fight or flight” consider taking a break or vacation, if city life has you depressed find a more rural place to relax, if your children cause allot of stress for you, see if you can hire a babysitter or nanny to help and find some alone time. If you have the finances to attend one of the holistic cancer clinics, this may be a great time to take a vacation from it all. Some people on the other hand may find less stress spending time with family and playing with kids…it’s unique to each individual. The point is find what works for you, and make those changes in your life immediately (if you can afford it).

Anti-Cancer Lifestyle

Lifestyle is equally as important as diet and nutrition. Because the Alexa Anona Protocol is a holistic protocol, we recommend adjust lifestyle to the optimal conditions for optimal immune function and health.

Exercise

Going to the gym and doing intense exercise may not be the best idea, because exercise can create free radicals which can potentially worsen cancer. However going outside for a walk and getting sunlight, fresh air and improving mental health is an essential part of the Alexa Anona Protocol. There are several studies that show the health benefits of moderate exercise like walking and of sunlight exposure.

QiGong

Qigong, sometimes spelled as Chi Kung, is a practice from traditional Chinese medicine that combines movement, meditation & breath regulation to enhance the flow of Qi (life energy) in the body. It is used to cultivate and balance Qi which practitioners state is vital for overall health and wellness. In Chinese medicine, it’s believed a disruption in the flow of Qi can lead to disease and illness, and practices like Qigong are used to restore this balance – potentially to reduce the risk of illness and improve overall health. Some of the benefits of Quigong include:

  1. Stress reduction
  2. Enhanced physical fitness
  3. Boosted immune system function
  4. Improved cardiovascular health
  5. Increased flexibility and balance
  6. Promotion of overall wellness

Based on my research QiGong has been used by many individuals who recovered from cancer. Whether QiGong played a role in their recovery, would likely be difficult to prove (even though many of them argue it did play a significant role). However QiGong is safe, easy, only takes a few minutes and is great for the body…so what do you got to lose? It’s practitioners state, you don’t have to beleive it works, it’ just works.

Meditation

Meditation has been used in Ayurveda and Alternative medicine extensively for thousands of years. There are different forms and methods of meditation, but for the purposes of the Alexa Anona Protocol, we try to integrate a daily meditaiton session of 15-30 minutes, preferrably in a quite place where there are no distractions or sounds. If you can’t find a quiet place, use ear plugs. Outside in the midst of nature can help enhance the meditation experience, and if you sit on the ground with shoes off and wearing shorts, it is also a fantastic way to ground with the earth, which has been shown to have a variety of health benefits.

If you feel overly stressed, or anxious, that can also be a great time to get a 5-10 minutes extra meditation session in and reap the relating benefits of this practice. Below are some of the health benefits of meditation. As usual all health claims are backed by studies, which are referenced at the bottom of this article.

  1. Stress Reduction: Meditation is known for its stress-relieving benefits. Mindfulness-based programs have been shown to reduce stress effectively.
  2. Anxiety Relief: Regular meditation can help mitigate anxiety and anxiety-related mental health issues.
  3. Improved Emotional Health: Certain forms of meditation can improve self-image and a promotes a more positive outlook on life.
  4. Increased Attention Span: Focused-attention meditation can improve the strength and endurance of your attention span, acting like a form of exercise for your attention.
  5. May Reduce Memory Loss: Some meditation techniques, such as Kirtan Kriya, have been shown to improve memory performance.

Meditation helps address the mental health aspect of a cancer diagnosis. It’s important to recognize your feelings and manage anxiety and stress effectively, because otherwise it can negatively impact your immune system and your ability to fight cancer.

Re-purposed drugs

In one of the books in the recommended reading section titled “Surviving Cancer, COVID-19, and Disease: The Repurposed Drug Revolution”, it outlines the importance of doing research to find possible repurposed drugs and supplements that can be effective for your particular type of cancer. You can do this by going to a site like pubmed, and preforming a search “x cancer + repurposed drugs” or “x cancer + herbs” or “x cancer vitamins” or “x cancer + supplements”. Looking through the studies, and find options which exhibit low cytotoxicity and high effectiveness. If you are on chemo or radiation you can look for those medicines which show they can enhance chemotherapy treatments, meaning they could be used alongside your chemotherapy treatments to potentially enhance their cancer fighting effectivness.

P.S. You can book a virtual appointment and I can do all of this for you – researching the re-purposed drugs with the lowest cytotoxicity and highest effectivness for your exact type of cancer, then I’ll prepare a package to bring to your naturopathic dr or oncologist with all the information and everything highlighted.

  1. Print off any re-purposed drugs, supplements etc that you find studies on, which may be effective against your particular type of cancer. Including those that may enhance your chemo or radiation treatment, if that applies to you.
  2. Bring those papers to your oncologist and doctor and discuss potentially using them as part of your treatment. If you are not good at strong-arming often stubborn practitioners, bring someone with you (friend or family member) with a good head on their shoulders that can advocate for you. Many practitioners often have huge egos, and limited knowledge and don’t want to look into the research, on potential repurposed drugs or supplements that may help, so you have to advocate for yourself here.
  3. If your physician or oncologist won’t help, consider getting a second opinion from a naturopathic medical doctor (NMD) or holistic oncologist that has some knowledge and experience beyond the western medicine chemo + radiation approach to cancer. It’s good to plan ahead and start looking as these are specialists that often have long waiting lists.

Parasites and Cancer

There is allot of talk in the alternative medicine community about the potential relationship between parasitic infection and cancer. There are several studies showing a connection between certain parasites and forms of cancer, due mainly to the long term inflammation they cause which can lead to cell damage and ultimately cancer. In the end, yes, certain parasites through chronic inflammation can potentially cause cancer. Therefore in the Alexa Anona Protocol, we advocate for thorough parasite testing or if you can’t afford it doing a parasite cleanse.

Here are just a few examples of parasites linked to cancer:

  1. Schistosoma haematobium and Bladder Cancer: A study by Botelho et al. (2013) suggests that S. haematobium (a parasitic flatworm) could play a role in the development of bladder cancer through both direct and indirect mechanisms.
  2. Liver Flukes (Opisthorchis viverrini and Clonorchis sinensis) and Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer): A study by Sripa et al. (2007) explored the pathogenesis of O. viverrini (liver flukes) in relation to bile duct cancer, and found they were a major risk factor.

These studies on parasites and cancer are only a sample, yet the logic is sound…Parasites can cause inflammation and cellular damage that can lead to cancer. It’s not complicated and no one can argue that inflammation doesn’t have the potential to cause cancer as it’s a driving force behind disease.

Parasite Testing

The Alexa Anona Protocol Advocates for thorough parasite testing to ensure no parasites are present that could have contributed to inflammation and the development of cancer. Most parasite tests are easy (usually) non-invasive tests using stool, blood or spit. Here is a list of parasite tests you can request from your medical doctor or naturopathic medical doctor. The most common is a stool test, but it may not detect parasites outside of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT).

  • Stool Test (Ova and Parasites Examination) – Stool sample analyzed under microscope for eggs or parasites. May take samples over several days to ensure nothing is missed.
  • Blood Test (Serology) – for things like antibodies or antigens produced by the body as a result of a parasitic infection or even by the parasite itself for those that live in blood like malaria or trypanosomes.
  • Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing – Can detect parasites DNA from a patients blood, stool or spit sample. it can be quite inaccurate, especially if the cycle threshold is too high.
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC) – Provides a general idea of infection by testing for increases in certain types of white blood cells (WBC) e.g. eosinophils which may indicate a parasite infection.
  • Antigen Test (RDT) – Detect specific antigens produced by parasites present in the bodt e.g. RDT for malaria
  • Microscope Evaluation – Something like a blood smear for malaria parasites or skin scraping for scabies mites, or tissue biopsy for certain worms – analyzed under a microscope for parasites and their eggs.
  • Imaging (X-Ray, MRI, CT, etc) – to identify parasites especially those that form cysts or tumors like Echinococcus or Schistosoma

Some of these tests can be quite expensive, but are a worthwhile investment. While parasitic infection is less common in developed countries like America Vs places like Mexico…there are still many many people walking around suffering symptoms and taking drugs for symptoms that they don’t know are related to a parasitic infection.

Other Testing

Agin yes testing can be expensive, especially if it’s not covered by govt or insurance…But if you can afford it some of these tests may reveal underlying factors that can contribute to the development of cancer.

  • H-Pylori
  • Hormone Tests
  • Vitamin D Test
  • Other Blood Vitamin levels
  • Lyme Test

Additional Info – NOT part of the Alexa Anona Protocol

There are hundreds of stories of individuals taking matters into their own hands and being declared cancer free after taking anti-parasite drugs like Fembendazole or Ivermectin. There are several studies now on these and other re-purposed drugs showing potential effectiveness in fighting various cancers through multiple vectors – exhibiting cytotoxic effects against cancer cells. Ultimately I can’t prescribe or endorse any drugs and this is not medical advice. It is much safer for you to work with a naturopathic doctor who can ensure you get the correct dosages vs doing it on your own and potentially making a mistake in dosage or missing a possible interaction, or have an issue due to existing health conditions or simply not taking the correct dose to help with cancer…which could endanger your health. Please contact your physician for further information.

Fembendazole

This anti-parasitic drug was popularized by Joe Tippins of mycancerstory.rocks who seen success with it against his cancer. Since then there have been several studies showing anti-cancer effects on various different cancers. Yet all Fembendazole’s mechanisms of action for fighting cancer, aren’t fully understood. Yet New studies keep coming out, showing new anti-cancer mechanisms of action.

  1. Fenbendazole & Brain Tumors: A study by Bai et al. (2015) found that fenbendazole exhibited potent anti-cancer activity in brain tumors by targeting microtubules and inhibiting angiogenesis.
  2. Fenbendazole & Pancreatic Cancer: A study by Pourgholami et al. (2010) showed that fenbendazole potentiated the anti-cancer effects of common chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of ovarian and pancreatic cancer in mice.
  3. Fenbendazole & Lung Cancer: A study by Sasaki et al. (2002) suggested that fenbendazole has potent anti-tumor effects on human lung cancer cells by interfering with the polymerization of microtubules.

However, to be clear, there is still insufficient large, randomized controlled trials in humans to provide a strong argument for fenbendazole use in cancer treatment. Therefor it has not been adopted my mainstream western medicine, for use in helping with Lung cancer. But frankly I think allot of that has to do with Big-pharma greed and corruption…here is a great excerpt from Joe Tippins story that drives this point home. This was right after Joe tippins was declared cancer free.

“I said, ‘Doc, I’m glad you told me that about my results within the trial, because I have something to share with you’. I proceeded to tell him all about the canine dewormer as I watched his jaw drop 🙂

His next words I’ll never forget (and remember for context he and I had become good friends by this time). He said, ‘you little shit, I knew there was something up with you…..and….I’ve had some weird days here at MD Anderson, but this one probably tops them all’

His next sentence almost floored me. He said, ‘You know, we’ve known for decades that these anthelmintic class of drugs (meaning to destroy parasites in the intestines) could have possible efficacy against cancer, and in fact in the 80’s and 90’s there was a drug called Levamisole that was used on colon cancer and it is an anthelmintic drug’.

I said, ‘Doc, if you have known for decades why hasn’t more work been done on it?’ His answer was honest. He said, ‘probably because of money…all of these drugs are far off-patent and nobody is going to spend a gazillion dollars to repurpose them for cancer…..only to have generic competition the next day.’ “

Ivermectin (IVM)

Ivermectin has shown some promise against cancer in preliminary research, mostly in vitro or animal studies. Please contact your physician for further information. Below are some of the studies.

  1. In a 2020 study published in the “Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications” they found that Ivermectin induces cytostatic autophagy in ovarian cancer cells by modulating the AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway. This is an early-stage, in vitro study, meaning it’s conducted on cells in a laboratory rather than in living organisms.
  2. Another 2016 study, published in “Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications,” showed ivermectin could inhibit the proliferation of triple-negative breast cancer cells, a particularly aggressive form of breast cancer. Researchers concluded Ivermectin could be used as a therapeutic agent for breast cancer
  3. Another 2020 study, published in “Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications,” found that ivermectin induced apoptosis (programmed cell death) in breast cancer cells.
  4. A 2017 study published in “The Journal of Antibiotics” showed Ivermectin had antitumor effects in leukemia cells, helping to inhibit cancer cell proliferation.
  5. A 2020 study published in “PLOS ONE” showed that ivermectin inhibits the growth of colon cancer cells in vitro and in a mouse model.
